Title: Dare to be Happy Medium: Urethane and oil on canvas
Another one finished last month, but not daring to feel happy, as I have been working with these new paints it has been an upward learning curve.
Originally I had a biker, cab and large shiny black luxury SUV at the bottom third of the canvas, but the bloody windshield literally frustrated me to the point that I cut off the canvas, hoping to recapture some semblance of a proper composition with a similar feel to the original larger work.
I may just discard it, or as an alternative, paint this one again, but here it is for now, if indeed it survives the final cut.
At first when I saw this series when you first posted them, I thought you had been commissioned to do the ads, and the rest of it was a photo with the ad in place. Took a while to figure out.
You continue to amaze. Bravo!

If at first the puzzle don't fit together; use scissors.
hey thanks dizz, yeah I am liking the paint qualities overall as they can be used both in the airbrush and by brush, blending properties are quite incredible. I find myself struggling more with the glazing properties, not knowing what outcomes to expect and then having to rework areas that I would normally have left alone.
in fact I really really like the composition on this, its reminescent of snapshot photography that tourists like myself take when wondering around New York city, especially with the cropped street sign in foreground. it also matches extremely well with your other painting in his series fashion avenue having the subway 1,2,3 sign in the image.
The buildings in the background look amazing and have that softness to them which makes them receide slightly and give it the photographic illusion, also those bright reds and blues really contrast each other and make it stand out.
great work, and visually the series is going from strength to strength.
Nicely done, awesome work Do you think that the dark street sign on the top right steals a little too much attention, I kinda find my eye swaying over there - maybe a light grey instead?

The composition has worked out......I've tried to imagine the vehicles in the lower one third and feel that they may have been fighting with the rest of the composition......but not having seen them in place I will never know........love the way you've painted the reflection of the VW.
