This was a small one originally done for a show that opens in LA this Saturday.
Lots of tight pencil work applied within this piece, particularly on the figure and killer fencing. Anyway, I liked doing this and am quite pleased with the outcome, kind of a blend of two series motifs.
Note: Diogenes was just selected for a year-long national museum traveling tour and therefore will be swapped out for a new cityscape that goes to LA instead.
Geeze...i am trying to catch you, but i sure got a long way to go! And it's only 24X24. I have a long way to go in photorealism, but work like this really inspires me and fires me up. I love these patterns! The buildings, the swing set, the fence the park bench! And then the man on the left and the tree on the right. Great composition! And you got the lighting on those turquoise squares just right! It's another sterling piece of work!
I dunno how you do this mate. Every inch as I've said before a little individual masterpiece. The composition is so well conceived that its sophistication is lost through the ease by which you have told the story.
The figure is poignant in his drabness, but I love the fact that while everything around him is tatty and a little bit tired (look at the bench, the rubbed shiny wooden slats and the bolts buffed bright by endless jackets and shirts of people who have sat there..), he seems to be admiring his shoes. Do they look new??
Personally, I would have run screaming for the hills at the mere thought of doing the fence, but it seems you are made of sterner stuff.
the fences looks scary. The lonely composition, tight squeezed detail n' blue-grayish feeling makes it definately another "Peterson" masterpiece. ps i saw some pencil works on the pants , this was different than ur previous works....
