Indiana Jones on Dow Jones building, reference shot same day as Red Square.... reflection of Red Square in the Dow Jones window, reflection of AIG backwards (ironic) in the window....
...orange and red fires in a line: Top Chef, ESPN Zone and Indiana Jones.... talk about hyperreality!
I really loved painting the billboard, bus, etc. As to the building, that's a different story altogether!
See if you can find my signature and I will buy you a drink at my opening.
Since I have an association with the featured movie, obviously I'm drawn to this automatically.
From that unbiased platform, I can happily say that here again, you seem to have pulled the rabbit (or maybe the skull) out of the hat.
Astonishingly difficult curvature to the building facia with each window reflecting its own unique view of the world like a giant curved diamond. The bright arrow of buildings on the top right is easily offset by the sharp white reflections on the bus and the car.
Huge congratulations too for conveying the busy atmosphere of that well known corner of NY.
Let me know how your exhibition goes if you can mate. I'm profoundly sorry I won't be able to attend.
BTW, if you have a high res version of this painting, could you let me have a copy?
The woman on the bottom right corner is mysterious. What is she doing? Hehe, she's also an interesting detail visually, with her orange (or peach?) dress.
Hey Mark, thanks mate... while painting this I would often muse what your reaction would be upon seeing it. I went out of my way to stay true to most of the art in the poster, including digital artifacts that must have occurred in the master printing of the billboard. Unfortunately, the reference photo was average quality at best and required quite a bit of improvisation to say the least.
This one should join the others at my show on Beverly Blvd. through December, then on to the Los Angeles Art show at the Convention Center in late January where there might be a large party reception with some of my work exhibited as well. I understand that Mr. S.S. is known to attend, hope he gets to see it there.
I will definitely send you a high res, but need to get a better camera for a re-shot as this one has already been returned due to its less than sterling results.
so the whole thing here is the painting right not just the billboard? man your work is too good, i can't tell it from a photo....shame about the movie it self though.
Well you've done it again!!!! yes this is hyperrealistic!!!!! The only thing I see resembling (your signature) is a possible backwards "Peterson" reflection just below AIG in the building's windows, above the bus number x31, but with my old eyes maybe I'm just seeing what I want to see . Again great work!!!!!

She seemed to be a young teenager with a defiant stride in view of the cop in the intersection.... nice touch.

Very nice. I especially like the bus for some reason. Yeah, doing those windows must have been something! Awesome again Denis.
