Just me in my humble studio by Denis-Peterson Just me in my humble studio by Denis-Peterson
Well, here's an unedited, unadulterated, unexpurgated and unabridged version of a favored corner of my space where I spend the major portion of my waking hours.

This rather revealing shot will be appearing in the November issue of Art Collector Magazine as part of an article on my work and upcoming show.

Cheers.

Well, after watching the video (excellent choice) in your journal, I must say that her conclusions are in keeping with a lifetime of my experience in creating art.

Certainly, each artist brings something to the party in terms of training and dedication, yet sheer genius does appear ever so slightly beyond us while connecting with the flurry of creative activity through another lifestream of higher consciousness.

Thanks for taking the time and effort to produce such a charming journal.

Do you still look like this? .. I saw someone painting "The Bean" in Chicago, in a realistic manner, over the long St Columbus day weekend (day of the Marathon).. they looked a bit like "Diogenes" wearing a beanie though (no pun intended).. their work was v. good .. about 2/3s, 3/4s of the way done.. I did not stop to talk .. I did take a photo of them and their work from behind and felt intrusive enough doing that. Ciao

Yeah, it's a fairly recent photo taken .. a year ago actually .. my studio still looks the same too!

Funny, as I did a small painting of the bean recently, but decided afterwards it was a little on the cheesy side, as my daughter so aptly put it!!!

Hi Denis,
one upon a time, I made acrylic painting on Bikes and cars with airbrush, it was a good experience to me, but it's too long and difficult, very precise. Now I love my brushes :D free hand style...
You work with an airbrush "Pasch" ?
It's good to see you in your studio in front of your impressive work, good shot for the Art magazine, there is the artist, his paintings, his tools and we can feel the warm atmosphere of your studio.

Hi Daniel,
I did use Paasche, but now I use Iwatas which are easier to clean. I have tried using a Paasche turbo, but it never works correctly.

Although my previous series had been done entirely with airbrushes, I no longer work that way. Many of my latest paintings have either been all handbrushed or some combination of airbrush and handbrush.

On the other side of the studio, I have my power saws for stretchers, boards and frames. Thanks, and glad to hear you like it.

i wish i had my own little studio space, i have to throw everything off the dining table to do any work XD. i like how all the the essentials are crammed into a small area, best way to work! :)

well, I think it is a progressive spread of mess constantly proportionate to the amount of space allocated for an indefensible need to feel crammed in!

i see you thought it all through from the very beginning :D i think i too have an indefensible need to feel crammed in...if i see any free space i think "why is that not covered with anything arty?" XD it's like a midcal condition haha

Love it! I always enjoy seeing an artist's workspace, whether it's a cramped computer desk with their Wacom tablet or a painter's heaven&hell studio like this. If it's not cramped and cluttered and dirty, an artist isn't working hard enough!

Haha, at first glance I thought you had a Hairspray poster on your wall!
