Artist's Comments

Media: Urethanes and acrylic inks on canvas
Process: Airbrush and handbrush
Size: 26"x38"

Just finishing this one, approximately 150 or so hours into it since the last two three weeks ago, working very long hours with others in the works in the remaining hours of work put in during that time.

Originally when I took my reference photos there were people in the scene and of course the sky was a dull flat gray. Although unplanned, the palette here is almost identical to the last two UK pieces, with its own lighting and compositional challenges that were a bit of fun to tackle and overcome.

Hope you can dig it.

I prefer these places empty, but for the odd determined dog walker or shell inspector (those people you see staring at the ground alot and prodding)...

And that beautiful cold air that forces it's way inside and makes you croak like some strong whiskey.

You've even got the strange brown rusty patterns on the walls where it looks like the tin man from The Wizard of Oz took a leak. A strange description but you know what I mean.

Thanks, it was quite a different setting from what I am used to. Very isolated an imposing. The long lateral shadows running across the walk were actually cast by figures, but I liked them enough to keep them in the painting.
Thanks, the photos I used were shot with a crummy consumer camera, but there was enough information in the 1 mb jpg image to create something that would hopefully look as an enlarged photograph.
see you then, so thanks until then! :slow:
The thing that always impresses me with your paintings is that they normally look, somehow, more realistic than photos. And, of course, they're always, always stunning.
